You know the saying...there's no original idea. This week Esquire releases their 75th anniversary magazine, and it's out of the park. A new battery powered blinking ad both on the cover and inside the magazine. I envisioned a magazine of this type more than 20 years ago when TV News Magazines like Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood debuted. This is just the beginning. There is a lot more new media to come. We will eventually see this in some forms of Newspapers and other traditional paper promos. When you see people talking on the covers, that will be my ultimate vision. | Sep 11, 2008 |

RJ Mitte discusses his favorite scene in AMC's Breaking Bad:
When I cussed my dad [played by Bryan Cranston] out—because my grandma was there. My mom was there a lot, but that day she was babysitting my little sister and my grandma wanted to see the set, so I invited her. So she was sitting in her chair and watching me film, and her face when I called my dad a p----...When anyone says a bad word in my family, my little sister says, 'Pop your mouth!' It's like to hit your mouth. And so we filmed that scene so many times, and my grandma was cringing. Every time I got off the set she said, 'Pop your mouth!' But having my family there was really great. They're a great support. I don't see how anyone in the acting business could do it by themselves without their family. It's really hard. You need the support: you need people to come home to. You just need it.

A former student that began her work with WEM called to share a booking with me last week. Actress Grace West will appear on A&E's The Cleaner. Actually Grace's mom, Jane called to share the exciting news. I still am thrilled when clients old and new succeed. Congratulations to Grace West. | Jul 16, 2008 |

Sierra McCormick strikes again and books an episode of 'Boston Legal,' playing the daughter to the fabulous Jane Lynch, star of 'The 40 Year Old Virgin,' 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,' and 'Alvin and the Chipmunks.' This is a great opportunity for Sierra, as she is a great big fan of the series created by David E. Kelly. | Jul 13, 2008 |

The New York City Commission on Human Rights held a public meeting Monday night regarding the issue of diversity in the advertising industry. A rough count of those sweltering in the close quarters of a conference room on Rector Street showed 27 people in attendance. It's hard to say what was more discouraging: that of the 27, three were members of the commission, two were lawyers and three were journalists; that of the six white people in attendance, two were members of the commission, two were lawyers and one was a journalist; or that in an industry this size, on an issue this public and this important, a turnout of 20-some-odd people was considered a success. (And before anyone starts griping about other representation, there was one Asian-American woman in attendance and no Hispanics. But let's be honest: From the start, this has been predominantly a black-white issue.)
More embarrassing and much more troubling? Of the 16 New York ad agencies that have had their dirty laundry aired by the commission -- and of those many, many other agencies that hide behind the other 16, thinking "Better them than us" -- exactly two, Arnold and Saatchi, had representatives in attendance.
